The Greeks burnt down Perspolis because they were overpowered by the Persians. They did this because they didn't like being underuled.

In the battle of Marathon the greeks were outnumbered, but still won against the Persians. Then the Persians retreated back and made a new plan.
Battle of Salamis
The battle of Thermopylae was when the persians moved through the land instead of water. Then they got pinched by the greeks between a cliff and the water, but then they were tipped off by a traitor who told them about a passage way to go around them.
They burned down villages but everyone left because they were prepared. The Persian leader was satisfied so he left.
In this battle the persians were going through a water passage when they bottomed out and got ramed by the greeks.
After the wars the Gold Age began which meant more people than ever had lots of money and wealth.
