  • The Tibet-Qinghai Plateau is a big part of China by being nearly a forth of it.  It's average elevation is 13,500 and because of this it is very cold and the air is thin and dry.  Two major river start  near the Plateau, the yellow river and the Chang Jiang.  Not many scrubs as plants grow. Antelopes and yaks occupy the area.
  • Hi, I'm Gene.  Right behind me is the Tibet-Qinghai Plateau.
  • Desert winds and sand dunes change and plants are very rare.  It is said that many villages lie under the sand.
  • This is the Taklimakan Desert.  It covers nearly 105,000 miles of China.

  • This is the Gobi Desert. This vast area is over 500,000 miles, one of the largest in the world.  It is very stony with small pebbles and sparse vegetation.

  • These plains have natural vegetation and is mostly prairie grass.  2 major rivers run through the plains which are the Liao and the Sungari river.  The Sungari is deeper and can carry boats and the Liao is very shallow.  The climate is a hot short summer and the winter is cold and dry.  A narrow coastal plain connects the area to China.
  • This is the Northeastern plain.  It is full of amazing features.

  • The North China plain is a flat, warm in the summer and bitter in the winter place.  The ground is yellow limestone silt.  The river is also full of silt which gives it the name the Yellow River.  it begins in the high mountains  and down to the eastern plains.  It helps fertilize the land which helps with crops.  It also floods a lot which can be a disaster for the area.

  • This is the north china Plain.  It is a flat region of grassland.

  • These are the Chang Jiang Basins .  These are wet, low coastal plains.  The river starts in the western mountains flows through plains and rests in a rich delta.  The river floods less than others and the climate is warm and wet.  the vegetation is thick in the forests and less in the plains but the weather is suitable for rice which needs wet and warmth.
