Elizabeth says that she was still child enough to scamper along with the group over rickety fences and through bushes that tore our already raggedy clothes back to where Miss Lottie lived. She also said that annoying Miss Lottie was always fun so she decided to go with them in the end even though she knew that it wasn't the best idea.
Elizabeth on the night when they all went to Miss Lottie's was thinking about what she did and felt immature. She then started to run towards Miss Lottie's house when she got there she leaped furiously into the mounds of marigolds and started to trample and pull out all the marigolds. She had torn them up and started to cry this is when she became an adult
After that moment of tearing up all of Miss Lottie's marigolds is when she became and adult. After that she started to realize that she needed to be more grown up and act like an adult. She felt bad for her actions but it was her last bad act as a kid. When she was older she planted her own marigolds to remember Miss Lottie and every time she went over there.
