Fahrenheit 451 is set in a dystopian society far into the future. Books have become illegal, knowledge is frowned upon, and death has become meaningless. In this society lives a 30 year old fire fighter that burns books named Guy Montag.
Guy meets a teenager named Clarisse that starts to make him question his society and begins to want to become his own person.
Montag and the fire fighters get a call to burn books. Once they get there the woman who owned the books was screaming and then set herself on fire with all the books. This increases Montag's interest in books, he also steals a book and tries to read it.
The fire fighters get a call to go to Montags house to burn books. The captain tells Montag to clean up his own mess and reveals that Montag's wife Mildred called in the books. Montag Begins to burn everything in the house and kills the captain. He then fleas the city.
Once he escapes the city he finds a group of men that also left the city. He learns that they all where professors and have memorized books so books won't be lost forever. He learns that in a way people have "become" books.
When Montag is talking with the men the city was bombed and destroyed. The men then decide to gather people all over the country that have also "become" books and they will rebuild the society. A better society.
