Mr. Hooper comes to church in black veil leaving everyone having curiousity as to why he wears a veil. In this scene, he’s not invited to Sunday dinner by his fellow church members because of his veil.
Mr. Hooper’s veil is creeping everybody at church out. They feel as if he’s using this veil to find out deep dark secrets about them.
Mr. Hooper’s fiancée, Elizabeth, confronts him and ask him over and over again to remove his veil. Mr. Hooper refuses causing Elizabeth to call off the engagement with Mr. Hooper.
Mr. Hopper is about to die from old age is currently laying on his deathbed. Reverend Clark tells Mr. Hooper that his last memory on Earth should not be dark and that he should remove the veil.
Mr.Hooper quickly grasps his veil before Reverend Clark can remove it and Mr. Hooper says that he’ll die in the veil.
