The Cause (Monday, November 29, 1773)
I can't believe this! How dare they tax us!
So, what are we going to do about this?
So we've made a decision!
When the East India Company began to loose their money, they went to the leaders of England for help. Together, they decided to tax the British. This would help neither of them loose money. As a result of this decision, the citizens were infuriated.
An abundant amount of people showed up to a meeting called in response to the government taxing citizens. This meeting lasted from November 29 to the 30th. Their main goal was to find a way to stop the East India Company from unloading their tea. Then, they finally came up with an idea.
For their plan, they wanted to have members from the Sons of Liberty prevent the tea from being unloaded. They would all dress up as Mohawk Indians, and throw tea over the board of a ship, but only the tea, and nothing other than that.
