The Legend of Skell and Llao is an old Klamath Indian Legend based on the eruption of Mount Mazama and the creation of Crater Lake. The eruption is the battle that takes place and the creation of the lake is the peace that came after the battle.
Real Life Event
Skell and Llao were gods that ruled different lands near Mount Mazama.
Llao, the god of the underworld, wanted to marry Loha, the daughter of the tribe's chief.
Loha rejected him because he ruled the underworld and he was ugly.
Llao sought revenge against Loha and her tribe.
With the help of Skell, god of the sky, the tribe defeated Llao and trapped him in the underworld and created the lake to keep him trapped and to bring peace.
