Psyche woke up to hear a voice tell her that everything she sees is hers. Although never being able to see her husband, Psyche did like all of the gifts and servants. She felt quite unhappy though, never getting to see her family. She told this to her husband, and soon brought Psyche's sisters to the mountain. Her sister's were jealous of Psyche getting all of these admonitions, so they started prying into her brain. They told her to cut off her husband's head if he was a monster after Psyche told them she's never seen her husband.
Psyche waited one night with a lamp to see if her husband was truly a monster. But instead he was a the handsome god Cupid. Psyche then accidentally burned Cupid with hot candle wax. Cupid then flies out the window, and Psyche tries to follow but falls to her death. Cupid finds her corpse and feels filled with grief and flies away.
After being revived, Psyche went out to search for Cupid. In order to get to Cupid, Venus made Psyche to a list of chores for her. Psyche managed to get each task done with the help of the gods.
One of the tasks was to get Proserpine's beauty in a box. Psyche had a very longing desire to look into the box, even though a mysterious voice said not to. Psyche opened the box to find a Stygian sleep. It took possession of her and Psyche fell asleep. Cupid found Psyche after escaping his chambers. He brought Psyche's body to Jupiter and pleaded to him. He then gave Psyche a drink that will make her immortal and to be able to be with Cupid for all of eternity.
