Storyboard Text

  • There once was a man named Frederick Douglass. He was a slave to a man named Covey. Covey told Douglass if he didn't work, he would beat him! So, Douglass went to collect wood.
  • Douglass oxen ran off and he lost the wood for Covey. When Douglass told Covey what happened, Covey beat him and took him to go back and get more wood.
  • One day while Douglass was working, he got sick and stopped working. When Covey found out, he ran in and beat Douglass with a heavy object, telling him to get up and work.
  • After Douglass got beaten, he decided to talk to his master to get him away from Covey. But, his master said Covey was a good man and that Douglass had to go back.
  • When Douglass came back, Covey found him and treated to beat him. But, Douglass decided to fight back! Douglass and Covey fought for 2 hours and in the the end, Douglass won.
  • After Douglass fought Covey, he never beat Douglass again.
