But if the Missouri entered the United States as a slave state, BUT the Government went crazy because then the representatives for each state would be uneven between slaves states and the slave free states
In 1820 Missouri wanted to join the United states as a slave state
Henry Clay saw this as a opportunity to present his idea. Henry Clay decided to add Maine as a non slave state AND came up with the 36'30 stating that if a new state was to enter above the 36'30 line it would become a non slave state and if a new state entered below the 36'30 line it would automatically be a slave state.
The missouri compromise helped balance the representative issue between the states, adding a new slave state Missouri. It also helped slavery be excluded from all new states in the Louisiana purchase. And it set a boundary between the north and the south.
The kansas Nebraska act was a bill passed in 1854, thanks to this act we have what we call Nebraska and Kansas
The nebraska Act completely repealed the Missouri compromise, allowing settlers from other territories.
The South and the North were fighting for the land that was up for "sale" unfortunately what was supposed to be a peaceful act soon turned into a deadly between the south and the north. This was called bloody nebraska
The only way to determine who claimed Nebraska was by popular sovereignty, if the south got the win slavery would not only be allowed in the south BUT in the WHOLE United States.
