  • The Jay treaty was when the Americans were having problems with Britain so they sent John Jay over to solve some of the problems. For example one thing was the U.S. agreed to pay debts long owed to the British Merchants.

  • If you really want to you have to give us $250,000.

  • This was when first president George Washington retired as president of the United States after he said his last words/advice.
  • Alien and Sedition acts
  • The two parties were formed during the election of 1796. Those two parties were called Federalists and Democratic-Republicans.

  • This was when John Adams sent Charles Pickney, John Marshal , and Elbridge Gerry to France for an effort to make peace with the French and see the French minister, but the French tried to bribe them, to give them $250,000 to see him. Then when people heard about the news, a lot of people wanted war. How John Adams reacted to that, he said no because he wants to build up the army.
  • The Alien and Sedition acts were meant to deport foreigheners that we as U.S. saw as a threat to our country.

  • In this event, the federalists lost both houses of congress. And when passing the Judiciary act of 1801 President Adams attempted to create new federal court/judge systems.
