Characterization Mark and Linda were martin's kids. They were good people (at first) and got good grades and worked hard.

Imagery This is the opening part of carnival. The trucks come rolling in and Martin immediately gets an odd feeling in his stomach .
"No, stay here. We will rescue your lady friend. Be alert, mayor. You have more to fear from your own townspeople than from the living dead"(349).

Theme Carnival has a few themes. One of the themes is the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. While this isn't always true, it defiantly is in carnival. If one of the parents is evil, then one of the children would also be evil.

Flashback Martin Holland the third drove to the north one day, and never came back. We find out that he has actually killed, and him and his truck were buried underground.
Symbolism Not all carnies are bad. Balo, the snake charmer, Stnaley, the dog man, and others were good, and decided the help the main group, they are like geods. One the outside they look/seem bad, but on the inside they are good, and cool.
