As students, participating in environmental projects contributes significantly to various types of learning, such as the following:
The class projects increased students' awareness of environmental considerations in urban and regional planning, and helped them to be more sensitive to the needs of the community.
Significant learning experiences supported by participatory projects included obtaining information from interested parties, officials and other sources; evaluation of community projects and actions; implementation of considerations based on the environment and the community, and more.
The use of surveys for research was not as effective in thinking deeply about their learning experience, while open and in-depth interviews did.
What do you think about the environment?
As the study examined a very small number of project teams, it would be useful to further explore the importance of specific projects (their themes, location, population, etc.). An additional investigation could be carried out in a wider scope, using a control group of students who participated in the same course but who did not take a project and thus carry out an analysis.
