The missionaries taught the Native Americans many things that they considered a better way of living. They taught them how to farm and gave their kids education. They also taught them the Christian faith and discouraged polygamy.
The Indians don't want to change their ways. They got mad at the missionaries. They did not like that they were telling them how they should live their lives. The missionaries were confused and upset because only trying to help them so that they would convert and do right.
