Storyboard Text

  • Old Life
  • "Empasario's are out handing out land grant's for Texas. We could move there and start a new life."
  • "I can't stand it here anymore!"
  • The Beginning
  • My name is Stephan F. Austin. Im an emparario handing out land grants. Want one?
  • YES!
  • The Journey
  • Living in the U.S was hard and did not pay off well. Brielle and Brooklyn were always working hard, but could not get their crops to grow. They wanted to move. It wasn't any better that there parents had died from the lack of food.
  • Hard
  • The famous Stephan F. Austin had heard about the young girls dilemma. He headed over to their small shack to persuade them to go to Texas. When he finally got to the shack the girls were both young and living alone. He wanted to help.
  • Home
  • They brought only the supplies they needed: food, clean water, sleeping bags, clothes. The journey was long and hard. The 21 year old Brielle and 16 year old Brooklyn had never done anything like this before. It was a whole new experience. They took turns driving and sleeping.
  • Life Goes On
  • They had finally reached Texas, but they had to reach the Neches River. That was where there large land was. Sadly, it was rainy season, so rain occured almost everday. Sometimes bad storms would roll in and they would have to take cover. They still trudged on though.
  • Though life was better then in the U.S, they still had trouble with their crops. They would have their plants near the river for water, but when it would rain it would overflow everything. Or once every few years a drought would come and there wouldn't be any good food to eat and sell. They got better and learned to save their food. Soon they were the most succesful farmers around.
  • Brielle and Brooklyn carried on their life. They became very wealthy and lived until they were about 70. Their children now run the farm and live fulfilled lives.
