  • Jip on a poor farm in Vermont
  • Conflict
  • Addison Brackett telling the slaver about Jip and the slavers finding Jip
  • Rising Actions
  • Jip found by slavers and teacher arguing with them that he has to have a hearing
  • Some main characters in Jip are Jip, Put, Sheldon, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman, the Wilken's family, Luke Stevens, Teacher, the Brackett boys, the slave catchers and members of the poor farm. The story takes place in the mid 1800s on a poor farm in Vermont before the Civil War took place.
  • Climax
  •  The main conflict would towards the end when Addison Brackett told the slavers about Jip and he had to escape to Canada. This is the main conflict because later on Jip is found by the slavers and has to be taken to a hearing so they can prove that Jip is their property.
  • Falling Actions
  • Jip was in the woods taking off for Canada when the slavers found him by their dogs sniffing him out. Teacher had saw them capture Jip and before they took she said there had to be a hearing for him.
  • Resolutions
  • Unexpectedly they heard someone singing, It turned out to be Put. Everyone was shocked to see him, everyone warned him to stop but Put kept singing on when the unexpected happened.
  • Everyone heard Put singing and Jip warning him to stop
  • The unexpected or expected thing happened. Since Put wouldn't stop singing, although everyone warned him, he was shot. Jip was devastated.
  • Put was shot and Jip and teacher were upset
  • Jip's teacher offered to pretend to be his mother but Jip didn't agree. Later on he escaped through the window and went to Montreal, Canada and met Reverend Ezekial Freeman. If he had a choice he would have lived peacefully.
