Why is it important? This scene is important because Miguel and Esperanza pulled over to pick up Marta and her mom for they wouldn´t have to walk even after all that Marta said. The other scene is important because Esperanza gave the poor family food when they said they were hungry. She felt sympathy for them and knew that they all have to stick with each other and share.
Why is it important? These scenes are important because Esperanza is helping out Marta to hide from the Immigration when they did a "sweep" even after Marta treated her unfairly when she first got there. She helped her because she knows what it is like to struggle and she thought of her mama and how Marta and her mom wold feel if they got separated.
