  • Exposition
  • Conflict
  • rising action
  • The narrator lives in the same house as the old man because he works for him. The old mans eye begins to bother the man because it reminds him of a vulture, so he decides to murder him.
  • Climax
  • This cell shows that the worker pretends to be nice to the old man but he secretly hates him.
  • Falling action
  • The worker has been watching the old man for over a week when he decides it's finally the night to kill him. He sneaks into the old mans room but he accidentally makes a noise and wakes the old man.
  • resolution
  • The worker suffocates the old man with his own mattress and buried him in the floor. He did this because he hated the old mans eye.
  • Then the cops showed up because someone said that they heard a scream. The worker was very inviting to the police so that they wouldn't get suspicious of him. So he let them check out the house and said that the scream was just him having a bad dream.
  • After he let's the cops look around he offers them to stay and chat. He starts to feel guilty as they keep talking because he believes that he is hearing the old mans heart beating. He is going insane listening to the heart of the old man (even though it's not really beating) He finally confesses to the murder of the man and digs him up.
