Comic strip Antihistamine
By guzmany, Updated
This storyboard does not have a description.
Good Morning Mr. Jones ! The doctor ordered Loratadine (Claritin) for your nasal allergies in the morning.
Benadryl and Loratadine are both antihistamines, but the difference is that Loratadine can be taken during the day because no sedative effects occur, longer acting, and fewer adverse effects than Benadryl
Why Loratadine? My friend takes Benadryl and it works great for him.
So how does it work?
It works by blocking the histamine receptors, but does not distribute into CNS which diminishes the sedative effects.
It has fewer adverse effects such as dry mouth, changes in vision, and constipation. If taken at higher doses can cause drowsiness, headache, and fatigue.
Ok, I will !
Notify your the doctor immediately if you experience any of these adverse effects discussed, especially changes in vision, drowsiness, headache, fatigue.
