  • Batista's Cuba
  • The Cuban Revolution
  • Cartro's Real Changes
  • Fulgencio Batista was elected as president but then he became a dictator of Cuba. A lot of people were unhappy because this cuased poverty, bad education, healthcare and many more. It also made people mad that the poor had no power because the rich had it all.
  • Cuban Missik Crisis
  • In 1959 Fidel Castro defeated the government and took all power and became a dictator. He executed 700 of his enemies and many more were put into prison. The US backed Castro because he promised to make Cuba a democracy, they sent him  supplies to defeat Batista
  • US and Cuba Embargo
  • Castro didn't keep his promises towards Cuba. He began organising a communist government and declared EVERYTHING was owned by the state (farms, companies and all jobs). No one had the right to protest, there was less freedom and there was a ban on TV stations, newspapers and radios also.
  • Castro Today
  • October 1962, US planes spotted secret Soviet Missile bases in Cuba. JFK announced to US citizens that the soviets had placed long-range missiles in Cuba. It was a extremely tense time and was the height of the cold war, and it could of led to WW3.
  • Due to harsh events, US placed a embargo on goods from Cuba in 1962. Cuba's sugar cane crop could no longer be sold in the US which affected Cuba's economy. The embargo is still in place today and Cuba's economy became very poor
  • After a decline in health, Fidel Castro gave up the Cuban Presidency in February and his  brother Rual Castro is now the Cuban Dictator!
