  • Batista was made president but became a dictator, people were unhappy with his rule.
  • Cuba turns Communist
  • Cuba is now a communist  dictatorship.
  • In 1959 Castro defeated the Batista government, the USA even sent him supplies to help him.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis
  • Do you see those missiles.
  • Castro promised to end American domination over Cuban businesses, and make every Cuban literate.
  • US-Cuba Embargo 
  • Cuba is still a dictatorship today.
  • Castro made a communist government right away.
  • In October 1962, US planes were flying over Cuba when they spotted secret Soviet missile bases in Cuba. Kennedy agreed not to invade Cuba and to remove US missiles from Turkey, in return Khruschev agreed to remove the missiles from Cuba.
  • Due to the harsh events, the USA places an embargo on goods from Cuba in 1962. Cuba's sugar cane crop could no longer be sold in the USA which hurt Cuba's economy, this embargo still exists today.
