  • Massanet was a catholic church official. He asked permission to find a mission. It was granted and in the spring 1690 he and three other friars and almost a hundred soldiers set out for east Texas.
  • Escandon
  • I'm Escandon a military commander from Spain.
  • Hidalgo was one of San Juan Bautista's missionaries. For over ten years he had asked Spanish officials to rebuild the mission for Tejas. He wrote a Letter to the french government in Louisiana asking the french to build a mission in secret without the Spanish officials' permission.

  • Jesus de Margil was a Franciscan missionary. He founded the missions Nuestra Senora de los Dolores. At San Francisco in 1720 he founded the mission San Jose San Miguel de Aquayo, most successful of the spanish missions.

  • Escandon was a military commander from Spain. He was given charge of territory running from northern Mexico to the San Antonio River a region called Nueuo Santander. Over time Escandon founded 20 settlements in this area including Laredo and the colony's capital in this area. He was often called " The father of the lower Rio Grande Valley.
