Lennie and George are sitting by the fire cooking beans for dinner. While the beans are cooking Lennie tells George that he wants ketchup for his beans. Angrily George tells Lennie that he always want what they don't have. This shows that George and Lennie are poor. In conclusion this shows how many people cant have basic things they want.
Killing the dream
Lennie and George are arriving to work when George tell Lennie to make sure he doesn't talk because he doesn't want to lose this job. George dosn't trust Lennie to talk and he wants to make sure that he wont mess this oppurtunity up. This shows that George dosen't trust Lennnie. Also many people dont trust others with their dreams.
Lenniebarges in crooks room and crooks doesnt feel comfortuble have lennie in his room, but Lennie starts talking about the dream and at the begining crooks wanted to be apart of it but shortly after thinking he doesnt want to be part of their dream. Crooks knows their dream will fail. sometimes its better to not get your hopes up if you know something your really want wont work out.
Geogre takes Lennie out to their meeting spot for if anything bad with Lennie ended up happening and shot lennie in the back of the head like candys dog from eariler chapters. George by killing Lennie not only killed his best friend but also the dream. In conclusion this show how dreams dont always come true.
