  • A boy named Henry fleming enrolls in war for the fame and glory he wants to have even though he has no experience in fighting.
  • Climax
  • Jim Conklin also known as the tall soldier announces that they are going to start moving and fight in their first battle. Henry is afraid because he doesn't know how to fight and he is scared from dying, but the others are excited.
  • Falling Action
  • After winning the first battle, another battle surprisingly appears. In this battle Henry changes his mind, drops his gun, and runs from the battle after seeing others retreating. He fights in the first battle, but then he becomes a coward and retreats from the battle. While running he knew that his regiment had won. He was so sad but then he realized that he wanted to go back to his regiment. Then, he saw Jim (the tall soldier)  wounded a lot, but then suddenly he died. Henry was so sad and afraid he left the tattered soldier behind and headed back to the regimen. tAlso, while going back he got hit by a rifle so he got wounded in the head.
  • Resolution
  • Henry overcomes his fear and decided that he will start fighting against the enemy because he overhears the general saying that he is a mule driver. Henry was his regiment's flag bearer. He fought so hard and was trying to win the battle. All his fellow soldiers called him a wild cat because he kept shooting at the enemy even though the enemy had retreated. 
  • Henry and his regiment were fighting against the enemy. They were starting to lose because many of the soldiers died. Then Henry started thinking about death. He decided that he will be okay with dying because he knew that this battle is really hard and he may die.Then, Henry fought really hard and won. 
  • Henry began studying his deeds, his failures, and his achievements.  He felt gleeful and unregretting , but then a spectar reaproached him. he regreeted the moment he left the tattered soldier behind. because he did so many good things, but at the end he deserted the tattered soldier in the fields alone.
