It the late 1800s an industrial boom swept across america. Factories and mills sprung up in cities and towns(pg.11)
The air inside the factories contained dust and lint which often led to children getting sick.
In the early 1900s in was common to hire children to work in factories because owners could pay them less than adults. The smaller the kid the smaller the pay.
By 1904 more than 1.5 million kids were working for America. The spend long hours working in dangerous conditions.(pg.13)
The National Child Labor Committee was created in 1904. They vowed to end child labor.
