After the bombing of pearl harbour, many things changed. Society was very racist against the Japanese Americans, not allowing them do certain things like embrace there culture without them being accused of helping the other Japanese. The bombing affected many lives.
Many Japanese Americans were taken to camps and hid there to make sure that they can't do anything. Which in some cases its very smart but also unfair and racist. Tomis father and grandfather are taken to one of those camps. When Tomi goes to try and find his father he sees how sad and cruel it is. The soliders made te japanese americans, tell their family it was perfect but it wasn't.
When the japenese americans were sent to camps everything changed. The camps hid the japanese american because they thought they would work and communicate with the Enemy thats of there own kind. Rasicim is not okay and the way they treated such innocent people is just terrible.
