Tax On Tea An act for granting and applying certain stamp duties, and other duties, in the British Colonies and plantations in America, towards further defraying the Expenses of defending, protecting, and securing the fame ; and for amending such parts of the federal acts of Parliament relating to the Trade and Revenues of the faid Colonies and Plantations, as direct the Manner of determining and recovering the penalties and Forfeitures therein mentioned
On May 10, 1773, The British Parliament passed a bill to save the East India Company from bankruptcy by lowering the tea tax it paid to the British government on a poster so all of the colonists could see.
All the colonists were being affected by this act and weren't very fond of the idea of the tea act being taxed.

Since the colonists didn't like the idea of the tea being taxed, they decided to dump tons of East India Company off the boats and into the sea.
