  • Claims to The Land
  • Religious Significance For Judaism
  • Religious Significance for Islam
  • "I have finally arrived in Jerusalem."
  • The Israeli and Palestinian Conflict began back in 1948. Both countries stated that they had religious claims to the land. Israel argued that their ancestors had lived on the land 2000 or so years ago, while the Palestinians stated that their ancestors had been living there for the past 2000 years.  
  • Religious Significance For Christians
  • To the Jewish commmunity, Jerusalem was one of the most holiest cities, the ancestral and spiritual homeland of the Jewish people (10th century BCE). According to the Hebrew bible, King Solomon had built a temple in Jerusalem. This temple was of high importance to the Jewish people and they would pray there everyday.
  • The Fighting 
  • Jerusalem was an important city to the religion of Islam. The Muslims believed that the city had been associated by previous prophets. They believed that the prophet Muhammad had visited the City on a nocturnal Journey. 
  • Outcome of The Conflict
  • Jerusalem also had some Christian tidings as well as Islamic and Jewish influence. Jerusalem was where Jesus was brought as a child, to be presented at the Temple and to attend festivals. Jesus preached and healed in Jerusalem, even in the Temple courts.
  • I wonder if Jesus is in today.
  • The war between Israel and Palestine had started due to claims on Jerusalem. The war started May 14th, 1948. 
  • The conflict hasn't yet ended and the two countries are still at war 51 years later.
