Storyboard Text

  • Hello, I'm Dolley Madison and I saved the portrait of George Washington but it was nailed to the wall so I had one of my friends help me break the glass so I was able to save the portrait.
  • Haha we sat down to eat a meal of leftover food from the White House using China and expensive silverware before we set fire to the White House!
  • Many in the United States celebrate the War of 1812 as a “second war of independence.” Also, one cause of the war is British attempts to restrict U.S. trade.
  • On September 13, 1814, Baltimore’s Fort McHenry withstood 25 hours of bombardment by the British Navy.
  • The blue part of the flag is called the union or canton. The flag has been patched 37 times. More than 8’ have been lost of the flag due to deterioration. An A was sewn into the flag for Louisa Armistead who was a widow of the commander of Fort McHenry. The original flag measured 30 x 42 feet but now it measures 30 x 34 feet.
