Arora was a goddess who thought the world was ugly. She decided to make a meadow to keep to herself, full of beauty and flowers. She used her powers to create such a meadow and keep others out. Arora was very proud of her meadow and protected it fiercely.
Masy and her brother Gavi accidentally wandered into Aroras meadow one day. Masy admired the meadow's beauty but she refrained from picking the flowers because she knew the consequences that would fall upon her, for she had heard of the meadow whose flowers must stay in the ground.
However, Gavi did not know the story of the meadow so he didn't hesitate to pick the beautiful flowers for his sister. To his amazement, the whole meadow withered the second he ripped the roots from the earth,.
Arora, realizing she left her beloved meadow unattended, returned to find her most beautiful flowers in the hands of Gavi and the rest of her meadow withered and dead. She blamed Gavi for taking the last beautiful thing on this earth away from her.
Arora used her powers to turn Gavi into the ground so that he could return the beauty that he had taken. Masy was heartbroken to know that her brother would spend the rest of his life being defiled and walked upon.
Masy decided that she would wrap her feet in thick cloth to cushion the blow to her brother (the ground) whenever she stepped on him. This resulted in modern day shoes.
