Christopher Columbus and the queen were standing in the courtyard looking for people to go on a voyage across the seas to get riches from Asia. I wanted to join them on this journey that could change the history of Spain.
We were getting to board the three ships, Nina, PInta, and Santa Maria, when I got nervous. I had never been away from home and I was told this could be dangerous. There were many other men there, probably looking for the same oppurtunity as me. It is August 3rd, we would be on this ships for months to come.
I eventually got on the ship and we were off! We sailed day and night searching for the right place. We worked so hard every day to do everything that Columbus wanted us to do.
I met a new friend, his name was James. We grew close and did all of our shipwork together. We still sailed on through the seeminly neverending seas. He made the long journey more enjoyable.
I was in my room taking a break when I heard the cry of land, it was October 12. We had been waiting for this for so long.
We were on land and celebrating reaching the East Indies when the natives started greeting us. We called them Indians.
