Storyboard Text

  • Racism Racial Discrimination was a very large theme in To Kill a Mockingbird. As illustrated above, Tom Robinson is in the court with Atticus defending him and Mayella Ewell crying, as her father Bob Ewell yells and points at Tom. After the trial ends, Tom is found guilty because of the jury's belief to never accept the word of a black man over the word of a white man.
  • Racism Tim Johnson is an example of racism in To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus tells Scout and Jem that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird and then he kills the rabid dog.
  • Racism Another example of racism from To Kill a Mockingbird is Tom Robinson. Tom Robinson is black and is accused of a crime. One night a mob of men go to the jail to get him because they want to kill him. Atticus then goes to protect Tom from the men.
