• So first, you need to make sure that you have the right numbers for this row number.
• 1.(x/3 - 3y2)4= 1(x/3)4 (-3y2)0 + 4(x/3)3 (-3y2)1 + 6(x/3)2 (-3y2)2 + 4(x/3)1 (-3y2)3 + 1(x/3)0 (-3y2)4
• Next you factor the terms and do power of a power law, keeping in mind that when you have a negative term, the even exponents make it positive while the odd exponents keep it negative.
• = (x4/81)(1) + (4x3/27)(-3y2) + (6x2/9)(9y4) + (4x/3)(-27y6) + (1)(81y8)
• = x4/81 - 12x3y2/27 + 54x2y4/9 - 108xy6/3 + 81y8
• Then you have to make sure you have alternating signs, starting with subtracting.
• Lastly, you have to simplify down to the lowest terms.
• = x4/81 - 4x3y2/9 + 6x2y4 - 36xy6 + 81y8
