  • I am really loving what we learned in class yesterday. It is really teaching me how to stay healthy.
  • I wasn't here yesterday.  Can you please explain what you are talking about?
  • Of course! What we learned yesterday was called My Plate.  It teaches you how to stay healthy.
  • Well, there are 5 food groups. Vegetables, fruits, grains, protein, and dairy. 
  • Thats great! Do you have to eat certain foods to stay healthy?
  • You have to eat a certain amount of servings of each food group every day.
  • You should eat 2 servings of fruits, 6 servings of grain, 3 servings of vegetables, 2 servings of protein, and 3 servings of dairy.
  • Really? What are the servings?
  • Well, grain is our main source of energy, fruits keep us from getting sick, vegetables help our eyes, skin, and hair stay healthy, protein helps build our muscles, and dairy helps build strong bones and teeth.
  • So, how do all of these food groups help you?
  • Yep. It's really simple, and a good way to stay healthy.
  • So basically, I should eat a certain amount of food groups everyday to help me stay healthy?
  • Me too!
  • Wow! I will definitely be using My Plate from now on. I have to tell my whole family about it!
