The Brittish put soldiers at the base of the Appalachian Mountains to prevent the colonists from moving and conflict. The Brittish did not want to pay for war. (weapons, amo, etc.) Some Colonists went through anyway.

Parliment put tax on legal and commercial documents, playing cards, newspapers, contracts, diplomas, stamps, and other paper items. As a form of protest, the colonists boycoted all British goods. They then formed a congress in NYC. ( The Sons of Liberty) They also revolted using effigy.
Lexington (and Concord), 1775
The Colonists were angry after the Townshead Act, they started talking bad and threw stones at Brittish soldiers. We don't know who but, someone fired a gun and people started fighting. Five people were killed. As a result, Paul Revere, a silver smith created an image made for propagnda. Also, the Parliment added the Writs of Assistance which alows the soldiers to search homes freely.

On December 16, 1776 Colonists dressed up as Native Americans, went on the boats and dumped out the tea. This was a form of protest on the tax on tea.

700 Brittish troops arived in Lexington on 77 men. Somene shot now one knows who. After shooting 17 men were either wounded or dead and only 1 Brittish soldier was wounded. They marched into Concord after burning what they find, the Colonists come. At the end of battle the Brittish retreated, Colonists had won.
The Colonists organized the continental army. They then nominated George Washington as commander. They then sent the Olive Branch Petitition to King lll. They had a desire for peace but King George lll wouldn't take it. As a result, the Brittish send 30k Brittish troops to the Colonies.
