Storyboard Text

  • Transcontinental Railroad
  • I lost my friend due to a rockslide from one of the explosions.
  • Homestead act
  • I think there is a storm coming soon.
  • Buffalo Hunting
  • I will bring a buffalo home to the tribe so we can make new clothes and have food for everyone.
  • Chinese immigrants took on the most dangerous jobs to build the Transcontinental Railroad. The Transcontinental Railroad is a 2.000 mile long railroad that travels across the great plains.
  • Cowboys
  • People were encouraged to move to the West and were given 160 acres of land for only a $10 filing fee. Storms were very common, mostly tornados which drove people out.
  • Sioux Indian War
  • Americans killed buffalo for profit. They sold the animal, but Native Americans used all of the animal because it was their main natural resource. Without buffalo they were forced to reservation lands.
  • Logging Industry
  • Most Cowboys were freed slaves or Civil War Veterans. They moved cows westward in cattle drives.
  • Let's get these cattle rallyed together.
  • The Sioux tribe tried to fight for their land but ended up being forced onto reservations where most of the Native Americans would die in a massacre. Very little survived.
  • You are on government property! Move to our reservations or face the conciquences!
  • Norwegian Immigrants are used to keep logs floating down the St. Croix River to build towns. Many rivermen died trying to fix log jams
  • Looks like a log jam up ahead, look out, boys.
