  • After Mao Zedong called for a Cultural Revolution, he shut down the nations schools, calling for a massive youth mobilization.
  • I agree.
  • We need a massive youth mobilization.
  • Months after, students formed paramilitary groups called Red Guards and attacked and harassed members of China's elderly and intellectual population. In this scene are Chinese Red Guards.
  • During the early phase of the cultural revolution, President Liu Shaoqi and other communist leaders were removed from power. They were beaten and imprisoned, and Liu died in prison in 1969.
  • I have to send you all in to restore order.
  • Lin Biao had to send army troops in to restore order. Then, the army soon forced many urban members of the Red Guards into rural areas where the movement declined.
  • Lin Biao died in a plane crash in Mongolia, apparently while attempting to escape to the soviet union.
  • After Mao died, a civil, police and military coalition pushed the Gang of Four out.
