Mrs. Jones switched the light on and left the door open.
Roger could hear the voices of other roommates in the large house. Some of there doors were open and knew him and Mrs. Jones weren't alone. Mrs. Jones told Roger "to go to that sink and wash your face," and turned him loose. Roger looked at the open door, then looked at Mrs. Jones, but ended up going to the sink.
I didn't even get to say thank you
"Let the water run until it gets warm, and here's a clean towel she said." Roger asked if she was gonna take him to jail, and she said:" not with your face looking like that." "Here I am trying to get home and cook me a bit you come behind and try to snatch my pocketbook," she said. "I believe you're hungry to try and snatch my pocketbook "I just wanted a pair of blue suede shoes," Roger said.
Roger said, and Mrs. Jones replied saying "well you could've just asked instead of snatching my pocketbook." The water still dripping from Rogers' face there was a long pause as he dried his face. The door was open he could make run for it, but sitting on the daybed Mrs. Jones Talked about how she used to want things she could not get. Mrs. Jones got up and moved to the other side of the room leaving the door open and her pocketbook unattended.
while Roger was sitting down he moved so she could easily see him out of the corner of her eye. She heated up some leftovers and made some cocoa, and set the table. As they ate she told him about her job in a hotel beauty shop. When they got done eating she handed Roger ten dollars, and led him out the door, and told him to behave she then closed the door before Roger could even say thank you.
