  • It had been raining where the Quinn family lived. The were worried that the dam would over flow.
  • Falling Action
  • James Quinn saw the dam getting ready to give in and told everybody to run to the hill. Aunt Abbie didn't listen and made Gertrude stay. She was sure that the house wouldn't float away.
  • Resolution
  • The dam burst and the house floated away in pieces. Gertrude started floating and trying to grab on to things and she couldn't. She looked back and no body was there.
  • Gertrude was floating along and saw a man. She was trying to get his attention and he just ignored her.
  • Then, the Koch family and seen her and took her in. She had flaoted down the river for a couple of miles.
