Storyboard Text

  • Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Abraham Lincoln
  • Why does this change anything?
  • We're FREE! We're FREE!
  • The 13th Amendment: No slavery or involuntary servitude shall exist in the US, except in punishment.
  • Because the 13th Amendment has stated that we no longer are slaves but freedmen.
  • You are free to live as white men do: not bound to work for the rest of your life as property, but free to live as a person should.
  • It might take a while, but the US will embrace you more and more as a person and not as property.
