One evening on the Manor Farm, Old Major had gathered all of the animals together for an important meeting about the farm.
Comrades, we are all aware of the terrible things that Mr. Jones has done. We all know what he has done to the animals and to this farm. Well, this shall be no more!! We shall rebel against him and take back the farm that should be rightfully ours!!
Later the next day, Old Major had passed away due to old age. Then the animals took the courage to do as Old Major said and they rebelled against Mr. Jones and ran him out of the Farm.
Then after they ran Mr. Jones out of the farm, they created their own community and made the 7 commandments.
1. Two legs is an Enemy 2. Four Legs or wings is a friend 3. No animal shall wear clothes 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed 5. No animals shall drink alcohol 6. No animal shall kill another animal 7. All animals are equal
Napoleon was a terrible leader, although all of the other animals thought he was an amazing leader. Snowball originally had the idea of making a windmill. Napoleon at first did not like it until he realized it actually was a good idea and made everyone think it was his. So they started building the windmill.
Napoleon and Snowball were going to run Animal farm together, but Napoleon had other plans. He ran Snowball by sending a bunch of vicious dogs to chase him. And just like that Napoleon was able to take over animal farm.
As the years passed, they had to build and rebuild the windmill about 3 times because of the damage from the battles between the animals and the farmers. Things had definitely gotten worse. But not for the pigs, the pigs were being treated very well while the other animals suffered.
Later on, a horse named Boxer, who was one of Napoleons biggest supporter and hardest worker, started to get very weak. He was determined to see the windmill finished, so kept working. But when the time came that he was too weak, Napoleon said that he called a veterinary hospital to take him, but he lied and he called a slaughterhouse to take him.
Years passed and things got worse and worse for the other animals and the pig's life kept getting better and better. The other animals were nearly starving to death and the pigs got all of the food. The pigs started wearing clothes, drinking alcohol, sleeping in beds and walking upright just like humans. Then one day Napoleon and some other pigs were playing cards with humans. The other animals saw, but they could not tell who was who because Napoleon had become too much like a human.
In the end, two animals went to go look at the 7 commandments again, but there were no more 7 commandments. The pigs had changed it so much that they changed it to just one commandment. It said:
