  • Willy Loman's tragic flaw his skewed outlook on what success is. For example, he thinks that being well liked is more important than working hard to be successful.
  • Anagnorisis
  • Willy shows his hubris when he refuses a job from his successful friend Charlie.
  • Catharsis
  • Peripeteia, or the reversal of fortune, occurs when Howard, Willy's boss, fires him, despite Willy's hopes of getting a new placement in the work force, along with Biff not getting the loan from Bill Oliver.
  • Willy experience self-discovery when he realizes he is worth more dead than alive. Thus, he commits suicide by crashing his car.
  • At the end, the audience feels pity for Willy when he commits suicide for the good of his own family.
