  • Women's march on Versailles
  • Declaration of the Rights of Man
  • Reign of Terror
  • Thousands of Parisian women rioted over the rising price of bread. The women demanded the National Assembly to take action to provide bread, and also wanted Louis and Marie Antoinette to return to Paris.
  • Execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
  • Rise of Napoleon
  • The Reign of Terror was a time when around 40,000 people were executed most by the Guillotine and over 200,000 people were arrested. If anyone who was even suspected to be an enemy of the revolution they would be arrested. The government wanted to make "Terror" and official government policy.
  • Fall of Napoleon
  • Louis XVI was sentenced to death because Jacobins excused him of treason and Marie Antoinette provoked the overthrow of the monarch and was killed in the reign of terror.
  • Napoleons friends urged Napoleon to seize power. Troops under Napoleons command seized the national legislator - drove out members. Three consuls were established - Napoleon took title of first consul. Napoleon assumed powers of a dictator. Napoleon made many great changes to France, such as introduce the Napoleonic code to give France a uniform set of laws. Napoleon also crowned himself the emperor.
  • Napoleon got defeated at the battle of Waterloo. This defeat ended Napoleon's las bid for power, called the Hundred days. Taking no chances this time, the British shipped Napoleon tho St, Helena, a remote island in the South Atlantic. There he lived in lonely exile for six years, writing his memoirs. He died of a stomach ailment.
