Storyboard Text

  • France and England are at war with each other and we despise the French, and we admire England.
  • It should also say that the president can kick anyone out of the U.S.
  • Yes then we can keep out those French Catholics
  • We should make an Alien act that makes it hard for foreigners and aliens to become U.S. citizens.
  • I'm tired of the U.S. government getting criticized.
  • The government made a Sedition act that made it a crime to criticize the U.S.
  • I hate the Sedition act is breaking the right of speech and press and this act got my grandson arrested and the alien act is very religious prejudice against French Catholics.
  • Many people and states thought that these acts were very wrong and they should be removed.
  • The Sedition act was breaking the First Amendment which is the right of Freedom and Press.
  • While the two acts were active there was no Supreme Court to decide if these acts were unconstitutional so they had a Virginia-Kentucky resolution which said that these two acts were unconstitutional. James Madison wrote the Virginia resolution and Thomas Jefferson wrote the Kentucky resolution.
  • As a result of the Virginia-Kentucky resolutions they argued that if any state thought that a law was unconstitutional then that state didn't have to follow the law.
