Storyboard Text

  • CHARLEMAGNE AND THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH
  • Einhard, you have served me well for twenty three years. I'd like you to write my biography.
  • That is fairly kind of you to trust me on this noble task and I am honored to write your story.
  • The two friends walked through the garden while discussing the story of Charlemagne.
  • O my, you may write about my affiliation with the Roman Catholic Church
  • That would be a good way to start your story, my Lord.
  • Around 742 A.D., Charlemagne was born from Bertrada of Laon and Pepin the Short. He later became the king of the Franks in 751.
  • We shall name our son Charlemagne.
  • In his reign, Charlemagne engaged in wars conquering the Lombards, Avars and Bavaria, and converted his subjects to Christianity.
  • With the command of our king Charlemagne, all Germanic people shall embrace the Christian faith in this one kingdom.
  • Charlemagne ordered the slaughter of some 4500 Saxons and later forced them to convert to Chistianity.
  • All of you bloody Saxons will have to convert to Christianity or we shall take your life.
  • I swear to embrace Christianity
