  • Macbeth's tragic flaw is his desire for knowledge and the current knowledge he holds about the future. By choosing to hear the witch's prophecies, he gets very influenced each time he hears one.
  • Anagnorsis
  • I was stolen from the womb!
  • In Macbeth's pride, he chooses to fight Macduff and his army, feeling immortal/immune, due to the prophecies.
  • Nemesis
  • Macbeth hears the prophecies of the witches/apparitions, causing him to feel immune.
  • Catharsis
  • Down with the tyrant! No more Macbeth!
  • Macbeth discovers the prophecies were more like metaphors, making him weak and deny the idea that he can indeed die. (ex. trees moving, Macduff wasn't "born")
  • Macbeth's main nemesis was fate itself. The prophecies were going against him the entire time and there wasn't much he can do.
  • Once Macbeth died, prphecies were finishes , and the war ended, everything had calmed down and Macduff took over as king restoring the kingdom.
