Storyboard Text

  • the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water. Photosynthesis in plants generally involves the green pigment chlorophyll and generates oxygen as a byproduct
  • I am glad you asked, Mary
  • What is photosynthesis?
  • Sunlight is absorbed from the chlorophyll in the chloroplast
  • water is absorbed through the roots of the plants & the xylenn transports it to the leaves for photosythisiss
  • Because sunlight is being absorbed it allows Co2 to go to the leaves stomiata
  • guard cells determine   if Co2 can go through the stomiata
  • After sunlight, Co2, and water is absorbed, they go through light dependent reaction; converting the suns energy to chemical energy
  • The chemical energy goes through another process called the Calvin Cycle creating glucose and its waste, oxygen
  • The phlegm then transports the glucose throughout the plant to be stored away as starch or used as food
  • Since oxygen is its waste, it has no use to the plant(s), and is dispelled into the air
  • Maybe in 100 years Mary.
  • Exactly.
  • I wish I could be one with the plants!
  • But I would be dead.
