Shhhh, Yanek, we can't let them see us. We must be silent!
Płaszów Concentration Camp
Well done, Yanek! We will eat well tonight!
Uncle Moshe, look!
Trzebinia Concentration Camp
MOVE THOSE ROCKS OVER THERE... AND THEN MOVE THEM BACK AGAIN!
Chapter 4: During the night, Yanek caught his father leaving the apartment. Yanek says he will not let him leave without him, so his father agrees to let him go with him. They sneak out and sneak across the streets and hide against buildings so that they are not caught by the Nazi officers for being out after curfew. They go to Uncle Abrahams bakery and bake bread to secretly sell to Jews.
Chapter 11: When Yanek was working to clean out the Kraków Ghetto, he found his fathers coat. He put it on and felt something in the coat - 1000 Zloty! He looked through all of their other stuff and found thousands more Zloty and a pair of diamond earrings. He sewed them into his jacket and hung the earrings on his sleeve and took them back to his uncle Moshe. His uncle Moshe bought them bread with the Zloty and then hid the rest of the thousands of Zloty.
Chapter 14: Yanek was at a new concentration camp, Trzebinia Concentration Camp, and he had a new job - to move a pile of big rocks and make another pile. After they got all of the rocks into another big pile, they would move them back again. They also had to dig holes and then fill them again. The Nazi's were playing games with the Jews and just making them do work for the fun of it.
