  • We've been trading with China for so long, but it is limited and the East India Trading Company is 28 million dollars in debt. What are we going to do?
  • Europe, 1773
  • What about... opium?
  • We can grow poppies and turn them into Opium! With the profits from our opium, we can buy and sell tea and improve our profits!
  • Great idea!
  • Many years of successful opium trade later...
  • China, 1839
  • Enough is enough. Opium has been flowing into this country unregulated. I officially ban the selling of opium. All opium traders from now on are under arrest.
  • Sept 4th, 1839
  • British and Chinese ships collide and The Opium War begins
  • China! Surrender your island and no one gets hurt.
  • We have never done anything wrong so why should we pay?
  • 1842
  • I am unhappy with this agreement, but we will pay six million dollars in damages.
  • We will also pay six million dollars in damages. Hopefully we can put this behind us.
