Storyboard Text

  • Symbol
  • Symbol
  • Imagery
  • The dying Scarlet Ibis is a symbol for Doodle because the Ibis and Doodle both are very weak. They narrator doesn't realize how alike they are until he is holding Doodle when his clothes were stained with red.
  • Theme
  • Another symbol that was in the story was the casket. This symbolizes the death he avoided. It represents on what was suppose to happen to Doodle.
  • Dynamic Character
  • Imagery is figurative language that helps you visualize. The first paragraph has imagery. For example, "The clove of seasons, summer was dead and autumn had not yet been born." This leads you to visualize the sights, the smells, and feeling of the weather that the author was trying to describe.
  • Personal Reaction
  • I think the theme of the story is guilt. I think this because through out the story the narrator hated his little brother and was very mean to him just because he was disabled. Has the story goes on Doodle actually dies and we can infer by the narrator reaction that he regrets everything hes done.
  • The dynamic character of the story is the narrator. This is because in the beginning of Doodles life his older brother was very bad to him and didn't care. As the story was coming to an end the narrator starts to feel guilty for the way he treated him. This is a picture of the narrator thinking over the way he treated his brother.
  • At the end of the story I get really sad because Doodle ends up dying at the very end of the story. The narrator of the story wasn't a good brother to him because he always would treat him bad and point out his flaws and make him feel worthless. But throughout the story he gets better because he teaches him how to walk and the narrator gets more respect for Doodle. Once him and Doodle started getting along Doodle had died. I found this ironic.
